Story Behind
George Bernard Spartels (born April 25, 1954) is an Australian actor, presenter, director, playwright, and children’s musician. His father’s ancestry is Greek, while his mother’s heritage is English and Irish. Spartels gained prominence for his role as Benito Alessi in the popular television soap opera Neighbours.
Throughout his career, he has guest-starred in various Australian TV series, including Prisoner, Bellbird, and All Saints. Additionally, Spartels was a beloved children’s television presenter on ABC’s Play School for an impressive 16-year period between 1985 and 2001. Finished association with Play School touring concerts in 2009.
